Art for animation

It's amazing how many of these drawings were made for the film, each one a work of art in it's own right.
Bambis' expression is perfect for the situation, he looks into the water thinking that Faline's image isn't real, then looks up to find she really is there, a combination of awe, suprise, attraction, and a touch of submission, but just in that instant, then he gets silly and falls back into the water, but the artist has to draw micro-secounds of expression that portrays the scene, something that not only an artist can do, but someone who is perceptive to physical communication. The story can't be told without being able to communicate with the viewer, even if the movie was silent we would understand the story and plot.
One of the other drawings from your source was Bambi's mother leading him to the meadow, very cute but also sad too, but just another example of how art can effect us in different ways.
